The Norbreck Castle hotel was a good home for us over the past years, with all the many venues we can use and as Cavalcadians have taken most of the hotel and we have our own special musical set-up it has a different atmosphere to that experienced by general guests who visit when we aren’t there. But last year we did have one of the main lifts fail during our stay and sadly each time we return the main public areas seem to go downhill, this in combination with poor reviews from general guests on Tripadvisor has affected the previous positivity around our long term Blackpool show’s success. Our home at Seacroft on the East Coast is just the opposite with Richardson’s investing heavily in major refurbishment of the main venues and the chalets, so things get better and better ever time we return. With this not happening quickly enough at the Norbreck we felt it was time to change for the better.
We have always run our events for Cavalcadians, by listening to your suggestions, ideas and requests and it has become clear that many would like to move upmarket to a high-quality venue. It isn’t easy to find a hotel that offers the right combination of location, venues, rooms, facilities and pricing. Blackpool has very few hotels large enough to take the many hundreds of Cavalcadians that join us, and even fewer that can meet all our demands, but we hit the jackpot for 2017, with a fabulous new location that seems to offer us an exciting new beginning in luxury surroundings.
None of us are getting any younger and as we age gracefully we would all like a little more pampering, knowing that we can enjoy home from home comfort while also indulging in our all-day musical entertainment. Well our 2017 event at our new home started a fantastic new chapter for the popular long-term Blackpool Extravaganza, now with the additional word “Deluxe.” So, let us take a closer look at our new home.
Location: The Village Hotel Club (also known as Devere Village Hotel Resort “Heron’s Reach”) Blackpool is set well back from the front in a quiet leafy back road within over 230 acres of its own grounds, which include an 18-hole golf course. To the front is Blackpool’s lovely Stanley Park, plus the Model Village and Gardens. To one side is Marton Mere nature reserve and to the other is Blackpool Zoo, with Blackpool Hospital just beyond. It really is a quiet, peaceful green oasis, with lovely gentle walks to enjoy. Yet you are a short hop from the bright lights of Blackpool’s centre, the Tower, seafront and all the traditional seaside facilities. On arrival the hotel is easily accessed via a short taxi hop from the main train stations, there is also a half hourly bus service, running from the road outside, around Blackpool. With most people arriving by car we are pleased to confirm the Village also has lots and lots of its own free, safe, parking. The hotel also has achieved lots of positive reviews on Tripadvisor, here are a few individual headline comments, each is from a separate review - “Great Hotel” - “Brilliant Stay” - “Bargain” - “Excellent Hotel” - Relaxing and Comfortable Stay” - “Awesome Staff” – Good Value Great Facilities” - “Fab Stay” - “ A Good Hotel In Very Nice Surrounding” - “Comfortable Stay” - “Excellent” - “Relaxing” - “Would Definitely Visit Again.”
Facilities: You will enjoy a classy, clean, quality room with massive comfy Signature Sealy beds, a HUGE flat-screen TV and free Wifi (in your own room), the bathrooms have both a bath and power-shower over the bath. Every room also has its own hairdryer, ironing board and you can enjoy full room service should you so wish. The hotel lifts service all areas and there is a choice of ground, lower ground, 1st or 2nd floor rooms to choose from.
Aside from the lovely setting (with plenty of outside seating/spaces for sunny days) and Golf facilities (extra charge), the hotel has a superb heated indoor swimming pool, plus an additional heated outdoor pool with sun loungers. There is also a steam room, all are free for Cavalcadians, as is the hi-tech gym for the more energetic types. For an extra charge you enjoy a little pampering to make you look and feel great at the Village Spa. While many keyboard fans travel solo, because their partner isn’t into the music, this new hotel is ideal for your partner to enjoy a super treat as well. In addition to all the facilities there will also be our own arts & crafts sessions to enjoy for the partners that aren’t into the keyboard part of the show.
The restaurant has a lovely, high-quality, Italian Bistro themed design. The walls are adorned with photos of iconic stars from the golden age, a nice nostalgic touch, as you dine with images of Sophia Loren or Frank Sinatra! We have arranged for our own 3 choice 3 course buffet menu (starter and sweets are served at the table, mains are self service) with the promise of a furher upgrade of the tasty food for 2018, there will be three relaxed sittings with plenty of space for all. There is also a lovely bar area, which is set overlooking the golf course, with plenty of inside and outside seating, to suit your mood. Here are some images taken around the hotel complex..........
Dates and Pricing: We have chosen the same popular Sunday start date as this year for ease of travelling, and we will all go home on the Thursday, avoiding the busy Friday traffic. Dates are Sunday May 13th to Thursday May 17th 2017, with 4 nights of musical magic and a top quality hotel experience to enjoy you can’t go wrong with the new and exclusive Blackpool Extravaganza “Deluxe.” Of course what won’t be different is the fantastic all-day, all-star entertainment programme that Keyboard Cavalcade is famous for, we will have a host of the very best organists and keyboard players from around the world, a mix of your poll-popular favourites and some new and exciting additions, watch this space and our website for more details as they are confirmed. The comfortable main theatre is ideal to host the many concerts and teach-ins and another big benefit is its acoustics. At the Norbreck we always struggled slightly with the sound due to echo/reverb caused by the solid walls and open space. Although the team did a great job of masking this, it could affect some performances and the spoken word was harder to understand, the new theatre is an acoustic treat, so the sound should be spot on, for all to enjoy.
The price is only £329 per person for 4 nights classy hotel half board (evening meal and breakfast), all the fabulous entertainment and our exhibition extravaganza, with the usual mix of friendly dealers joining you. Another benefit is the main exhibition areas are all grouped together next to the main theatre, so you won’t have to walk miles to visit all the dealers, all the venues are conveniently located near to each other.
All We Need is YOU – We are pleased to say that following the launch of our new upmarket Blackpool home the 2017 event was fully booked witha waiting list of around 40 people and we are already over 55% full for 2018, so please book early to avoid disappointment, this new event has the lot. Comfortable classy accommodations, quality venues, great facilities and our unmatchable entertainment programme, we do hope you will join us. BOOKING HOTLINE – 01780-782093.
